Givenchy Python Sandals: Identity Crisis

Givenchy Python Sandals

I’m sorry, but this must be a case of mistaken identity. Is this really you, Givenchy? People ask me all the time, “What is the current ‘it’ bag?” Though seeing that every editor has Givenchy in their hands makes it an easy question to answer, this python sandal has me taking back my words. Okay, true, it’s not a bag. Don’t tell me this doesn’t represent the brand in a dim, unflattering light, though – and that’s being kind. If I were to be totally honest, I would describe these shoes as my colorblind grandmother’s answer to sensible sandals that made use of scrap python (sorry grandma!). And even for scraps, this is not the best use of snakeskin.

As we’ve all established, the Birkenstock style is the acceptable look for orthopedic sandals, not nurse mandals (a.k.a. man sandals). Although I appreciate the “Nike” air sole for added bounce in my step, if comfort was all I cared about, I would wear either Birkenstocks or sneakers, and not spend $1,450 on this laughable creation. For once I am glad something cannot be shipped to California. Pre-order at Barneys New York for $1,450.
