Karl Lagerfeld Appliqué Leather Backpack: The Name Game

Karl Lagerfeld Appliqué Leather Backpack

Oh, Karl. Love him or hate him, at the end of the day, you still kind of have to love him. Though one could argue he is something of a narcissist with a pet cat more famous and pampered than most humans, he also manages to make the Chanel collections thrilling and inspiring time and time again. However, you’ve got to seriously adore Kaiser Karl to spring for his namesake label’s backpack, despite how decently priced it is. Emphasis on name.

Smooth leather and softly rounded shape make this daily backpack an easy, accessible choice. I like the extra-long zipper pulls for both quick closure and a detail with movement. But you can’t ignore the elephant in the room. Or rather, the logo on the bag. While I’m far from against professing, even consciously advertising your passion for your favorite designers, this lettering is too big, bold, and in-your-face (despite blending into the rest of the backpack) to be appealing. What do you think: would you wear your heart on your sleeve and Monsieur Lagerfeld’s given name on your back? Or would you rather save yourself (and your cash) for a couple of interlocked Cs?
