NYFW Beauty Recap #5

NYFW Beauty Recap #5

Rodarte: I haven’t liked Rodarte for years. This season however while there were still a ton of pieces that are too jumbled for my taste, there are plenty I loved and they killed it with beauty. Almost Balmain-ish, the overall look above left, right? The no-makeup makeup was out in full force, but subtle touches elevated it from commonplace. For example, Swarovski sparkles were attached to a silver string and glued onto the models’ lower lash lines; they were tiny though so instead of tacky effect, there was a subtle glimmer, the perfect complement for many of the busy outfits.

Libertine: Libertine isn’t a show you watch for high commercial appeal, but I like the strip of color they added over the models’ center parts and, dare I say, I could see it being something worth trying to pull off?

3.1 Phillip Lim: It was all about the punk-inspired lip here. NARS’s newest shade, VIP Red, was the one used (above left).  Skin was kept natural; nothing aside from a tinted moisturizer, blush, and powder was used. Ditto for eyes and brows.

Reem Acra: Those golden goddess eyes! Metallic shadow was dusted on the eyelid, the inner corner, and under the eyes; no mascara was used, but eyelashes were curled. If anyone is looking to pull off this look I’d highly suggest stopping by Misty at Warren-Tricomi first for the perfect brows. She’s AMAZING!
