Porsche Design Agnodice Doctor Bag: Engineered for Greatness

Porsche Design Agnodice Doctor Bag

When it came time to name Porsche Design’s new doctor bag, they settled aptly on the moniker of the first female physician in ancient Greece, Agnodice. This woman was the original feminist. She pretended to be a man in order to get the education necessary to practice medicine, making the name even more meaningful for a convention-defying bag. Sure, at first glance it might seem like any other duffel style, but upon closer inspection, the shape is actually angular, rather than curved. And that’s just the exterior; the interior is the product of pure engineering brilliance. Everything is built around a center divider with a seam running all the way around from the bottom to form the foundation. The bag opens with such ease, as the frame separates the two sides for the ultimate in organization. The subtly of this design is profoundly impressive. To fully appreciate it, I took my time examining every last detail, from the seam to the construction to the materials used.

Strokes of genius don’t always come from the brands you would expect, and that’s pretty exciting. I’m not going to lie to you; I am not a Porsche fan. I had to overcome the baggage of the company’s legacy, namely the association with fast cars and general manliness. I’m glad I did, though, because ironically enough, the Agnodice is the ultimate symbol of femininity. This is quiet luxury at its best. Porsche Design Agnodice available on Porsche Design for $2,490.
