Tod’s Medium Cape Tote: The Caped Crusader

Tods_Tote_Bag

This singular new bag from Tod’s heralds a new chapter for the brand. The Cape is well worth the wait, after the company took a long hiatus from new styles that got my attention. For a huge Tod’s fan like me, this is all too exciting.

When a mint bag style is in keeping with the levels of effortless sophistication and unfaltering functionality for which the house is known, it’s quite a feat to create a true original in the process. The name “Cape” comes from the brilliant construction: one continuous, fluid piece of leather is wrapped around, forming the body of the bag, and folds in on itself with magnetic closures. While the structure is top-notch, the supple leather is key and adds to the luxurious feel. If you like it already, seen here in delightfully clashing orange and red, know this: I swooned when I saw this bag. The appeal is amplified when you can absorb it in person, fully appreciating the magic and brilliance of the design and artistry. Tod’s bag on Farfetch for $1,214.47.

Pair with: An instant classic like this makes me want to wear it with something timeless, like Prada’s pair of cat-eye sunglasses in face-brightening tortoiseshell. On Shopbop for $300.
