Givenchy Clutch in Gold-Tone Brass: The Golden Ticket

Givenchy_gold_Clutch_Brass

How awesome is this?! I can’t contain my excitement, induced by the curious nature of this clutch. Givenchy almost always knows how to turn up the heat for evening, but this enigmatic piece of hand candy is in a league all its own. Is it a flask? Is it some sort of cutting-edge, high-tech gadget? It looks like a giant version of a mint dispenser to me, albeit an extremely glamorous one. Whatever it looks like to you, it’s that incongruity to what we’ve accepted as the reality of what a bag’s supposed to look like that makes this so great. Once you reveal it’s a clutch, amazement levels are only heightened.

We’ve seen plenty of brass minaudières, but they always come in the same, expected east-west shape. This super-smooth, quietly curvaceous, leather-lined rectangle marks a major upgrade for the metal box clutch. This is formally uncharted territory. Normally, I’d get into the subject of functionality, but who cares what fits in here? Figure out how to edit, and enjoy this with everything you’ve got (and the small amount of essentials you’ve now got, too!). Givenchy clutch on NET-A-PORTER for $2,590.

Pair with: When your clutch is this suave, you can spring for a shoe with a whole lot of strappiness. Like Giuseppe Zanotti’s link-strap platform sandals. In red suede, they’ll help you stun from hand to toe. At Barneys New York for $1,395.
