Anti-Perspirant & Deodorants

For anyone who doesn’t know, there is a serious heatwave going on in the New York City-area and in-between dealing with an old-school air-conditioner that’s so loud it keeps me up at night and going to penthouse events with no AC (though the particular event I’m referring to was a cocktail party to honor Isabel Toledo and though there was no AC, I ran into Bag Snob Kelly’s sister which totally made up for it!), I have turned to deodorants as my new best friend. I have long stuck to alternating between Chanel Allure for Men and Nivea Fresh for Men, but unfortunately both are ridiculously hard to come by state-side (I stock-up when I visit my relatives in Munich..while they’re both for men, they’re light — though I have to say that Chanel I use only for the delicious smell because it’s not that long-lasting…). Now that I’ve been amping-up on my deodorant usage though, I’ve been trying-out a whole bunch of new ones and there are a handful that stand-out as particularly snob-worthy! Jump for the best deodorants at a variety of price-points!

Kiehl’s Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant Cream ($11.50 for 1.7oz) is, believe it or not, Kiehl’s first anti-perspirant and deodorant formulation! This is great for people with sensitive skin or those picky about smell as it is odorless. I also love that it’s a cream so it doesn’t look blatantly like an antiperspirant and it’s compact enough to tote around. I actually popped-it in my MJ clutch last-night when I went to this wonderful new cocktail lounge that becomes more nightclub-esque later at night — The Country Club — they have the best list of bellinis (which makes me especially happy since a waiter at Cipriani recently spilled one on me and I’ve therefore, at least temporarily, banned them — despite their wonderful cocktails– from my radar!).

The packaging of Peaceful Patchouli Active Enzyme & Liquid Rock and Scented Active Enzyme & Liquid are less than fabulously-chic (but for $4.99 I’m kind of digging the healthy-vibe packaging…plus the brand “Kiss My Face”…I’m a sucker for cute names like that:-)..) Looks aside, Kiss My Face Deodorants are aluminum-free, propylene glycol-free, and paraben-free. The deodorants come in both roll-on and stick, and scented and unscented — love the scented ones though, especially lavender and patchouli — def my top pick for discount price (even better than Nivea actually).

Lastly, DERMAdoctor might well actually be just what the skin doctor ordered! They have two wonderfully gentle deodorants/anti-perspirants in their Total Nonscents line. One of them in particular, the DERMAdoctor Brightening Antiperspirant ($28), actually fights discoloration while keeping you dry — even my mother who swore she would never use anything other than Jean Paul Gaultier loved this!

I tried a buuunch of different deodorants/anti-perspirants and truly by far, these came-out on top…let me know if you agree and hope everyone is staying cool and fresh!!
