Monique Lhuillier’s name may be synonymous with sparkly dresses and fairy tale wedding gowns, but there wasn’t a princess skirt or corset in sight on her Fall ’15 runway. Surprised? Well, considering the presence of spider web beading, fishnet fabric, and glossy black leather in her spring collection, this departure from the norm actually appears to have been a while in the making…
The lovely prints that have surfaced for the Fall 2014 season are the standouts of New York Fashion Week for me, from the already-dramatic gowns of Monique Lhuillier, Naeem Khan, and Dennis Basso enlivened with inspired prints to the playful dresses by Tracy Reese, Alice + Olivia, and Carolina Herrera.
When you think of Monique Lhuillier, you think of show-stopping gowns, and in that respect, her Fall 2014 collection more than delivered. I love color for autumn, but unlike most designers, Monique typically offers color every season – and more often than that, bridal white. So in a way, the use of mostly grays and blacks this time around is even more intriguing.

Julie Bowen really wowed with this sweeping Zac Pozen. The over-the-top look is not what we expect from her which makes it that much more exciting. Plus she looked like she was having fun with it which always makes it look more grand.
